Lost Pizza Company Versus Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern

Time to let two Mississippi originals battle it out in the Great Starkville Restaurant Challenge. Today’s battle features the Lost Pizza Company and Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern. These two restaurants with different styles and menus provide the Starkville area with some of the best pizza available, along with a few other things.

Lost Pizza Company

The franchise company, originating from Indianola, brings the Delta soul and blues to the Golden Triangle area. Their unique naming of pizzas like “The Cujo” and “The Lucille” have become trademarks of a company with humble beginnings in the Mississippi Delta. Started by two college roommates in 2007, Lost Pizza Co. has become one of the best pizza places in Mississippi, and continues to provide a relaxed atmosphere for everyone to come and enjoy their food. Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern

With their slogan of “Never Graduate”, Dave’s Dark Horse Tavern has become one of the most well-known locations for new live music in the Starkville scene. With an atmosphere more unique than ever, Dave’s offers a variety of food that ranges from Chicago Deep-Dish Pies, to Greek Gyros. Located on Highway 182, Dave’s is a hole-in-the-wall location that provides some of the best food, according to customers.

Their crowd favorite is the “Walter Payton” Chicago-style deep dish. The Walter Payton features ground beef, canadian bacon, pepperoni, and italian sausage. Their menu also features burgers, wraps, gyros, salads, calzones, and “pub grub” that can satisfy any palette.
