First CFB Playoff Poll Results — Bulldogs #1!

The College Football Playoff (CFP) Committee has released their first ever ranking results, and your Mississippi State Bulldogs are #1! (full top 25 listing at bottom of page)

The question everyone has been asking about this four-team playoff since the season started is, “Who’s in?” I’ll tell you who. As of right now, the Bulldogs are in!

Do you know how many other football teams have ever been included on this list before? None. Zero. Nada. Zilch. The twenty-five teams on this list are the only teams ever to have been included on a College Football Playoff Top-25 Ranking. And only one, your Mississippi State Bulldogs, has ever been ranked at #1.

Let that sink in for a minute. The Bulldogs… yes, those Bulldogs, from Mississippi State University, are, and always will be, the first ever top-ranked team on a College Football Playoff ranking.

This year, with the advent of the CFP, we are crowning, for the first time, a true, undisputed #1 team in college football. No computer rankings involved. A panel committee of experts will determine the top 4 teams, and the national championship will be settled on the field.

Here to tell you about it is the inventor of the CFP, Larry Culpepper:

Apparently Larry is a Dr Pepper concessions guy when he isn’t busy revolutionizing college football as we know it. Dr Pepper is made with 23 flavors that combine to create what is referred to as an “indescribable taste.” I can describe it. To me, Dr Pepper has always tasted maroon.

According to Larry, “All those other seasons, they don’t count. This is like the beginning of history. This is like the first real season of college football.”

So, in the very first ranking of the first real season of college football, our beloved Mississippi State Bulldogs are #1. Can Bama, for all the national championships they claim, say that? Can Notre Dame? Nope. No one can — except us!

Of course, these results are entirely subject to change week to week. As far as I can tell, there’s only one thing that Mississippi State can do to make sure they stay at the top and make the four-team College Football Playoff — Win, Baby! Win! If we can manage to keep doing that, we have a chance to be the only team in history to have won one of these:
