NC State, Miss State 2020-21 series buyout $1 million unless ACC or SEC expand to 9 league games

This is a good matchup for State. The SEC instituted a rule a couple of months ago that said all conference teams must now play one team from a “power five” league in their non-conference schedule. Since that ruling MSU has agreed to play Arizona in 2022 and 2023 and now N.C. State. Both of those programs are on the same type of level as Mississippi State – a non-traditional power team playing in a power conference league. They won’t be easy games by any stretch of the imagination, but there’s a lot less likelihood they are a national championship contender when we do play.
