Ross Mitchell Does it Again!

Ross Mitchell throws his second complete game in three starts this year en route to a 5-1 Bulldog victory in Game 2 of the series, and double-header vs. Arkansas.

After giving up a run in the first inning, Mitchell got into an incredible groove. He retired 23 of 24 hitters before they staged a minor rally (that led to 0 runs) in the 9th. Unlike his 129 pitch complete game vs. UGA, Mitchell only threw 98 in this one. The Hogs were only able to muster four base hits.

The Bulldogs offense was cold to start the game – continuing the trend after Game 1 when they were shutout. But in the 6th inning things changed. Wes Rea, Derrick Armstrong and Zach Randolph had RBI hits for a 4-run rally. State added another run in the 7th on an Alex Detz single to make it 5-1.

Armstong had himself quite a day. He was 6 for 8 over the two games.

MSU is now 19-10 (5-3).
