Bad Day for State - Big Loss to Arizona in Game 2

After two straight shutouts vs. Michigan State and South Alabama, Mississippi State gave up 20 runs in two games out in Tuscon, Arizona. The Wildcats put a hurtin’ on the Dawgs, 12-3.

Brandon Woodruff got the start and things did not go well again. He gave up two runs in the 1st, a run in the 3rd and three more in the 4th before exiting in the 5th. Austin Sexton came in for relief and he struggled as well giving up 5 runs.

In both games Friday MSU gave up 17 hits. That’s 34 total compared to the 14 the offense had. The Bulldogs were WAY off their game.

Seth Heck picked up two hits in the game – that’s about the only positive that can be found in this one.

State is now 11-6. Next up is another go at UC Santa Barbara on Saturday at 3:00.
