Bulldogs Fall in Opener Out West

MSU’s 7-game winning streak came to an end at the hands of UC Santa Barbara in Game 1 of the Hi Corbett Classic in Arizona by an 8-3 score.

Things started out pretty good as Ben Bracewell pitched four scoreless innings to start and State got a couple of runs to take a 2-0 (albeit they were double plays with 0 out and runners on 1st & 3rd). The Gauchos got a run in the 5th, and then it all fell apart in the 6th.

After Bracewell got into trouble Jacob Lindgren came in and had his first trouble of the year allowing two hits to two batters – although neither was that hard hit – and he was charged with a couple of runs as Will Cox struggled to navigate his way out of the inning…or the next as UCSB scored three in the 7th as well.

MSU only had six on the day, Damarcus Henderson the only player to have multiple base knocks. UCSB had 17 hits. Rough outing.

We are now 11-5 on the year.
