Bulldogs Win 5th Straight Game in Game 2 of DH

Austin Sexton had his first career quality start to guide Mississippi State to a 7-1 win over Michigan State. That brings the Dawgs record to 9-4 with their 5th straight win.

Sexton looked solid in his second career start – 6 scoreless innings and only gave up three hits. Myles Gentry came in for relief for the second time today, and made up for the HR he gave up in Game 1 by pitching a couple of scoreless frames. Johnathan Holder came in to close it out even though it was not a save situation and gave up a run….which it’s good to see him pitch after the rumors about his injured finger.

After the game winning hit in Game 1, Reid Humphreys continued to feel good at the plate and belted a home run into the Left Field Lounge – his first career long ball. Zach Randolph, Demarcus Henderson and Seth Heck also notched RBI. Derrick Armstrong stole three bases and scored three runs.

Bizarro MSU is now 0-3 in the Diamond Classic and they’ll play EIU Sunday at 11:00, then State will play EIU at 3:00…Dakota Hudson is expected to make the start.
