Game 2: MSU 8, Holy Cross 4

The Bulldogs take Game 2 8-4. Game 3 will be played at 2:30.

Wes Rea hit the Dawgs first big fly of the year. It was a 2-run shot in the 2nd inning. Then he hit the 2nd big fly of the year with another 2-run blast in the 8th. He was 2 for 4 in the game with 4 more RBI giving him 11 already in the young season.

Daniel Garner had a big game as well. After only having one base hit through the first five games he was able to notch four of them today in the DH role. It was a big hitting day for State with 11 base knocks in total including Matthew Britton getting on the board with the first hit of the year from a MSU shortstop.

Trevor Fitts started the game and went 5.2 innings. For the second straight game a Bulldog starter was just one out short of a quality start. Fitts gave up 2 ER on 7 hits and struck out 5. Will Cox came in for relief and finished the game with the final 3.1 innings – he picked up a save.

Mississippi State is now 4-2 on the year. Austin Sexton will start Game 3 this afternoon.
