Derrick Milton to Transfer from Mississippi State

RB Derrick Milton will transfer from Mississippi State, likely to FCS program McNeese State per Paul Jones.

Milton was a redshirt sophomore in 2013 – he rushed 13 times for 65 yards. In his career he tallied 234 yards rushing and 4 TD plus one receiving.

You have to hand it to Milton for sticking it out this long – after a 2012 redshirt freshman campaign in which he was clearly the #4 running back going into 2013, many players would have transferred to juco so they could be eligible to play again in FBS as a junior. Milton stayed in Starkville, but now moves on to McNeese State.

This is a good move for Milton and MSU. He was stuck behind a number of good tailbacks with Aeries Williams coming in next fall as well. MSU is in a numbers crunch on scholarships and there simply isn’t enough room to carry so much at one position.

Best of luck to Derrick and we appreciate you time in maroon and white!
