Season Rewind: Alabama Game

This was one of those games that when it’s over, you go back and forth between being glad we played so well and being upset we missed an opportunity to beat #1. Alabama came into Starkville as the two-time defending champs, undefeated and unstoppable, but MSU played tough defense all night and only lost 20-7. A handful of mistakes left everyone wondering what if.

  • A missed 23 yard field goal in the first half that would have tied it up was killer
  • Once again an opponent scored with under two minutes to go in the 1st half
  • Multiple turnovers in Bama territory, but only 7 points off them

You have to wonder – would State have won if Tyler Russell stayed healthy? Or moreover, if Dak had played? Russell went down in the 4th quarter and Damian Williams came in for a couple of good opportunities to score, but it didn’t pan out. That’s not to say it was his doing – there were some dropped balls that didn’t help him out at all; plus coming in cold off the bench against #1 in the 4th quarter ins’t exactly the easiest task.

Game Review

The video board was extra awful but Stricklin acknowledged it and said it would get better
