Mississippi State is making some noise on the recruiting trails over the last few weeks. Not for the 2014 class, which is basically full, but the 2015 class. Mullen and Co. have gotten commitments from five players who all have 4-star ratings from 24/7.
What’s so unusual about this is that MSU basically never gets commits this early. This year it was May 7th before getting the first one, Jamoral Graham. The earliest commit Mullen has ever received was Nick Redmond (left team after freshman year) in September of 2009 for the 2011 class. Every other player has committed after signing day of the previous class.
Here are the 2015 commits:
- WR Cameron Myers – Hattiesburg, MS (played for state champs Oak Grove)
- DE Jay Johnson – Bruce, MS
- DT T.D. Moton – Shreveport, LA
- LB/DE Tim Washington – Yazoo City, MS
- WR Donald Gray – Wesson, MS (juco transfer, signed with 2013 class)
Scout only has Washington and Moton rated, and Johnson as a 3 star with Myers and Gray unrated. Rivals has only rated Moton, and they have him as a 4. 24/7 has all five guys as four stars.
Things seem to be off to a great start with the 2015 class. The 2014 class who will sign in February is currently ranked 32nd by Rivals, 34th by Scout and 39th by Rivals. Here’s a good look at what the guys in this class did on the field this fall.
