Nov 9, 2013; College Station, TX, USA; Mississippi State Bulldogs defensive lineman Denico Autry (90) sacks Texas A

Texas A&M 51, Mississippi State 41

The Bulldogs came up short in College Station, losing 51-41. But it wasn’t for lack of effort as they gave arguably their best 60 minute game of the season.

For the second stright game State out-gained the opponent but lost: 556-537. MSU had 299 yards rushing. Johnny Manziel had an incredible game throwing: 30 of 39, 446 yards and 5 touchdowns.

Hat’s off to Dak Prescott. With a heavy heart he played an excellent game with 154 yards rushing and 149 passing and 2 TDs.

Big mistakes by MSU were the difference. Texas A&M made their share as well including 3 Manziel interceptions thrown, but MSU needed them and could ill-afford to make their own to win on the road against at top 15 team.

The 2nd half woes that have plagued MSU all year were not a factor in this one as they scored 27. A failed two-point conversion with just over two minutes left prevented a change to kickoff with all 3 timeouts and only down by one score. MSU had come back from a 51-27 deficit.

We’ll have more on the blog tomorrow. Here are the stats:
