#9 MSU Men's Tennis Host the SEC Tournament This Weekend


Chances are you aren’t into college tennis. That’s okay, me neither. But head coach Per Nilsson has led the Bulldogs to a great season on the hard-court so it’s time we paid them a little attention.

MSU is 18-5 on the year, 9-2 in the SEC. Men’s tennis in the SEC is somewhere between football and baseball. In other words, it’s a dominant conference. Right now there are eight SEC teams ranked in the Top 25. State is #9, but they are the 3 seed in the SEC Tournament this weekend.

Mississippi State will play host to all these great tennis teams starting today. The setup is basically the same as the basketball tourney – all 12 teams make it in, the top four get a bye on day 1. So MSU will not play today, but will play the winner of Alabama vs. Tennessee at 11:00 am Friday.

If the Bulldogs can win Friday, they would play Saturday at 11:00 am, and the championship match is Sunday at 1:00. If you’re headed to Starkville for Super Bulldog Weekend, consider stopping by the Pitts Tennis Center to check out the action.
